1213 Briana Morton

Homewood Middle School Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teacher Briana Morton was selected as the national winner for the National Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher Award by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
She was now one of only five finalists selected to compete for the 2014 national title.
Inspired to help students growing up in rural areas – like the community she came from – Morton left a successful career in apparel merchandising to become a teacher. To ensure her students are both college- and career-ready, she has made it her mission to incorporate more technology into local classrooms. She has worked hard to acquire more than $15,000 in classroom grants to make this possible.
Morton was announced the national winner during ACTE’s VISION 2013 conference in Las Vegas.
