The Homewood Lady Patriots blasted Opelika 70-50 to advance to the Class 6A Central Regional basketball semifinals in Montgomery on Thursday, Feb. 12.
The Lady Pats placed four players in double-figures, led by Ajah Wayne's 15 points. Wayne added eight rebounds and six assists. Hannah Barber scored 14 points and dished out seven assists and Tori Webb had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Shelby Hardy added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Patriots will play Bessemer City on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. on the campus of Alabama State University at Dunn-Oliver Acadome. Bessemer City defeated Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 42-30 to advance.
The Homewood boys hosted Russell County on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in the subregional round for the right to advance to the regional semifinals.
