Homewood Mayor Scott McBrayer lit the star on top of 18th Street Dec. 3 at the annual star lighting ceremony.
The event began with holiday tunes performed by the Edgewood Elementary School choir. After the star came aglow, a soapy snow fell through the sky thanks to the Homewood Fire Department. The Homewood Chamber of Commerce served hot chocolate and cookies.
