Brookwood Village Front Exterior
The facade of Brookwood Village will soon change to make room for a new movie theater.
The owners of Brookwood Village received approval to amend the mall’s development plan for both exterior and interior renovations at a Feb. 3 planning commission meeting.
The biggest change will be the introduction of a 40,000-square-foot dining theater near the center of the mall, city engineer Vanessa McGrath said. The theater will be located in the center of the mall, replacing part of the parking deck and the former Gus Mayer store. McGrath said there will be about five screens and patrons will be able to enjoy dinner while they watch movies.
The theater will necessitate the relocation of several tenants, including Victoria’s Secret and Jason’s Deli, as well as several parking spaces.
The front facade of the mall will also get a facelift with the addition of an eating terrace and the theater entrance. Brookwood’s entry plaza will also be renovated, as will much of the interior main floor. McGrath said the mall will have “home-quality furniture” such as bookcases replacing kiosks and cloth chairs and wood tables in the food court.
“They want to make it a village, not a mall,” McGrath said.
Cypress Equities, the owner of Brookwood Village, is expected to begin construction at the end of February or in early March. Walter Schoel engineering will be working on the project, and McGrath said there is an 18-month timeline for expected completion.
