Thames campaigns to keep Ward 1 position

While his ward mate Michael Hallman runs for mayor, Ward 1 Place 2 Representative Britt Thames is facing an election race of his own against challenger George Terry.

Thames is a seven-year Homewood resident and lives in Edgewood with his wife Amanda and two sons. He has served on the council since 2012 and is also involved in the Edgewood Counselor Advisory Board and his church, Cathedral Church of the Advent.

"Over the last four years, I believe that Ward 1 citizens have come to know me as someone who keeps them informed and is willing to help them when they need it. I have loved playing a role in my neighbors' Homewood experience," Thames said.

Top issues for Thames in this campaign include building a new public safety building, upgrades to infrastructure such as roads and sidewalks, economic development in Wildwood and West Homewood, continuing the city's financial stability and communicating with his Ward 1 neighbors.

Thames said there are several projects that he hopes to see through to completion if re-elected, including the 18th Street revitalization project and the recently-approved city repaving program.

"Amanda and I are blessed to have the opportunity to raise our family in a town that offers fantastic schools and community. I want to do my part in helping Homewood remain so exceptional," Thames said.
