HHS soccer wins state

Homewood High School’s boys soccer team defeated Fort Payne this weekend 3-1 to claim its fourth 5A state championship.

In the state tournament, Homewood advanced by first beating Pinson Valley 5-1.

Twenty minutes into the game against No. 2-ranked Fort Payne, sophomore Jackson Lynn, assisted by sophomore William Jackson, scored the first goal. Fort Payne evened the score 10 minutes into the second half.

Senior Chris Simpson scored Homewood's second goal with a corner kick assisted by sophomore William Jackson 7 minutes remaining in the game. Jackson went on to score Homewood's third and final goal with 3 minutes left on the clock.
