Homewood played lockdown defense en route to a 48-29 win over Briarwood Christian on Tuesday night.

In the Class 6A, Area 9 matchup, the Lions converted just four field goals in the first half, as the Patriots jumped out to a 26-10 lead at the break. Briarwood finished the night shooting 33% overall.

Homewood had no such issues, shooting 50 percent from the field. Luke Touiliatos led the Patriots with 11 points. Trey Jemison finished with nine, and point guard Austin Patterson scored eight points with six assists.

Jeff Travis led the Lions with seven points.

Homewood improves to 21-3 on the season with the victory, and concludes area play at Pelham on Friday. If the Patriots win, they clinch the area crown. If not, there will be a tie at the top of the area, resulting in a coin toss to determine who hosts the area tournament.
