Patriots to play Briarwood Christian in second round of playoffs

Homewood advanced to the second round of the Class 5A High School Baseball Playoffs after defeating Sylacauga High School in the first round, 2-1. The Patriots will face Briarwood Christian School in a double header on Friday, April 26.

The Friday night games are scheduled at 5 and 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. if a third game is needed. Admission fees for the games are $8, and they will be played at Homewood High School’s baseball stadium.

The Patriots finished the season with a 23-4 record while the Briarwood Lions finished 14-15. Six of Homewood’s seniors, Brian Browning, Luke Porter, Conner Rivers, Mason Schoettlin, Wesley Walker and Will Alfano all plan to play baseball at a collegiate level.

If the Patriots win the second round series, they will advance to the third round to play the winner of the Cullman High School and Hartselle High School series. The third round of the playoffs is set for May 3-4.
