Patriots eliminated from baseball playoffs

The Homewood Patriots saw their outstanding baseball season come to an end, losing game three of their AHSAA Class 6A playoff series 7-6 to Briarwood Christian in nine innings.

The Patriots (27-10) led 6-4 after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning. But Briarwood rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to pull out the game and the series.

Will Hunt belted two homers for the Patriots and Griffin Rivers also slugged a home run.

Briarwood (24-7) will now face Pinson Valley in round three of the playoffs.
