Patriots boys beat Paul Bryant for state semifinal spot

The Homewood Patriots will join the Lady Patriots in the field of 56.

The top-ranked Patriots held off Paul Bryant 51-43 to win the Class 6A Central Regional in Montgomery and advance to the AHSAA Basketball State Final next week.

The Pats will face Lee of Huntsville in the first boys 6A semifinal at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham. The Homewood girls play at 9 a.m.

Woodlawn will play Carver-Montgomery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Malik Cook led Homewood with 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
