Homewood visited Pelham on Monday night and left with a dominating 73-30 victory to finish off a perfect 6-0 mark in Class 6A, Area 9 play.

The Lady Patriots (17-6) ran out to a blazing 29-6 first quarter, and began what would top out as a 30-0 run between the first and second quarters. The halftime edge was 47-11.

"I'm really proud of my girls," head coach Jovanka Ward said. "We got to try some different things and area play is really important."

Post players Tori Webb and Shelby Hardy jumpstarted the Homewood attack, finding a great deal of success in the paint on both ends of the floor.

"We forget about them sometimes, but they do all the dirty work, setting screens and getting rebounds," Ward said. "But when we don't forget about them, things go really well."

Webb and Hardy, along with Ajah Wayne and Hannah Barber all scored 11 points to lead the Lady Patriots. Kalia Cunningham and Kassidy Crawford scored 7 each. Barber had 4 assists.

Jordan Allison scored 13 for Pelham.

With the perfect area record, Homewood will host the Area 9 tournament, beginning Feb. 8.
