Homewood's girls basketball team had little trouble dispatching Pelham on Tuesday night, winning 58-19 in the first round of the Class 6A, Area 9 Tournament.

The Lady Patriots held Pelham to single digit point totals in each of the four quarters, and led 27-7 at halftime.

Homewood put three ladies in double figures, led by Tori Webb's 14 points to go along with seven rebounds. Ajah Wayne added 12 points -- nine coming in the third quarter -- with a pair of assists and a team-high four steals. Kayla Mikula scored ten.

Point guard Hannah Barber dished out seven assists.

With the win, Homewood clinches a berth in the sub-regional round of the state playoffs.

The Lady Patriots advance to play John Carroll in the area final on Wednesday at 6 p.m., at Homewood High School.
