Fifteen penalties and three turnovers ended Homewood's eight game winning streak with a 28-7 loss to Benjamin Russell.

For Homewood (8-2), the uncharacteristic combination of mistakes, combined with an injury to star tailback Walter Rutledge, proved insurmountable.

The loss marked the first Homewood loss since the season's opening game against the Vestavia Hills Rebels.  The loss also marked the end of a five-game winning streak against Benjamin Russell.

Next week, the Patriots begin their march through the playoffs when they host Russell County.
