School faculty participate in Walk to School Day

The school day began outside the school building for many Homewood teachers and faculty on Oct. 8. As a part of National Walk to School Day, groups from each school gathered and walked to a local coffee shop before heading back to welcome students.

Edgewood Elementary, Homewood Middle School and Homewood City Schools staff made their way to Hart and Soul in Edgewood, while a group from the high school and Shades Cahaba Elementary traveled to different O’Henry’s locations. Hall-Kent Elementary staff walked laps around the track and snacked on Duncan Donuts afterward.

The event was planned by Homewood City Schools Wellness Coordinator Nivada Spurlock.
