OLS celebrates All Saints Day

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School fourth grade students celebrated All Saints Day in a ‘saintly’ way. On Nov. 1, students participated in a school-wide mass while dressed in full costume as one of their favorite saints.

The mass was celebrated by the Most Reverend David E. Foley, D. D. Bishop Emeritus, and included a Litany of Saints procession, as well as special prayers and songs by the children. The children wore their special attire and carried a symbol representing their saint. In addition, papier mache’ statues made by the students stood at the foot of the altar.

In the month of October, students also worked on a religion project that included the research of the saint they represented.

All Saints Day is a Holy Day of Obligation that recognizes saints or holy people throughout the centuries. The special OLS Mass prepared by the fourth grade is an annual celebration.
