RISE (Risk-taking Individuals Striving for Excellence) is an enrichment program focusing on closing the achievement gap. The goal for this program is to provide students with academic intervention services during the summer for six weeks. This program also provides a smoother transition from one grade level to the next by experiencing and exploring literacy and math strategies with hands-on activities and technology.  The program had the opportunity to partner with Mountain Brook YMCA to provide students with afternoon fun and enrichment such as STEM activities, tennis, and swim lessons.

“The enrichment program and the YMCA also provided the students with different life experiences. By expanding the students’ life experiences, it was able to help them make more meaningful connections with the material they are taught in the classroom setting." Hall-Kent teacher Kornelia McDaniel said.
