Hall-Kent selected as a Be Healthy School

Congratulations to Hall-Kent Elementary for being selected as a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Be Healthy School.   

The Be Healthy School Grant Program supports schools throughout Alabama that are committed to student health and wellness.  The grants are for the implementation of school-based health and wellness programs, emphasizing increased exercise, nutrition education and parental involvement during the school year. 

Hall-Kent will be awarded a $10,000 grant, which will be used to purchase a piece of playground equipment, physical education equipment, and pedometers for students in upper grades.  To help promote wellness while having fun, Hall-Kent hopes to have a step competition next year so each class can help encourage others to be active. 

At the end of the 2016-2017 school year, Blue Cross will present each student with a token of appreciation for their commitment to live a healthy lifestyle.
