Douthit now on School Board

The Homewood City Council has appointed Charlie Douthit for the Homewood Board of Education position for Ward 4. 

Each of Homewood’s school board members are appointed by the Homewood City Council to serve on the board for a term of five years with a limit of two terms.  Douthit’s term was effective June 1. The position was recently held by R. Scott Williams, who rolled off the board after serving two five-year terms including board vice president and president. 

Douthit owns Alabama Weatherization Services in Birmingham, and he is business partners with AWS Properties and Utility Power, Inc.  He has served as president of the American Heart Association Metro Board of Directors, on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, and as a committee chairman for the Boy Scouts Troop 83. He is also a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist, where he serves as a deacon and youth Sunday school teacher.

He is married to Beverly Douthit, and they have four children: Bailey (Homewood High School graduate), Elton (sophomore), Joshua (eighth grader) and Cooper (fifth grader).
