Hundreds of Homewood women donned pointy hats and rode their broomsticks - or bicycles - through the streets on Oct. 30.

The annual Witches Ride started at Central Park and made a loop through the Edgewood and downtown areas of the city. Families lined the streets to collect candy and cheer for the witches who are their friends, coworkers and neighbors every other day of the year.

To participate in the two-mile ride, the women donated $25 to the American Cancer Society and put their creativity on display in their costumes and bike decorations. Lights, streamers, flowers and even a skeleton helped transform the witches' bicycles into more magical transportation.
