Parks department to host first Health and Safety Day

Come promote a healthy community at the first Homewood Health and Safety Day.

The event, presented by Homewood Parks & Recreation, will be at Homewood Central Park on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Health information will be available from Homewood groups and organizations including Homefit Consulting, the Homewood Coalition, National Center for Sports Safety, Hoops for Fitness and S.A.F.E  Inc.

EMT and paramedic students from Herzing College will offer attendees health screenings. 

Local emergency response units also will be part of Health and Safety Day. The Homewood Fire Department and the Homewood Police Department will display a few vehicles, and a Regional Paramedical Services ambulance will be on hand. The Fire Department’s smokehouse will teach kids and adults how to react during a fire emergency.

Green Springs Animal Clinic will provide safety information for pets and offer rabies vaccinations at low cost for visitors who bring their furry friends.

J&S Produce will be on hand to sell fresh fruit and vegetables.
