(Video) MOMS Club holds Mardi Gras parade

The Over the Mountain Chapter of the MOMS Club held their fifth Annual Mardi Gras parade at Homewood Central Park.

Melanie Lewis, a New Orleans native, said she wanted to do something fun for other moms and children.

“One day we would love for this to be a gift to the Homewood Community,” Lewis said of the kid-friendly parade.

She said when they began the parade five years ago they decorated strollers with beads, ribbons and feathers. Now she explained they have aged up to wagons and boxes for floats.

About 30 people made a lap around the park throwing beads, moonpies and footballs. After the parade they made another lap to pick up all they threw to not leave a mess.
