Homewood student’s service dog receives humane society award

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society recently took the time to recognize one Homewood High School student’s four-legged friend.

Max, service dog to student Macy Squires, received the Olivia Bearden Award at this year’s GBHS Auxiliary Awards Luncheon on Dec. 4. The Olivia Bearden Award is given for specific service of an animal to another living creature.

Homewood Police Department and its K9 unit was also recognized at the presentation of Canine Unit Appreciation.
