Hundreds gathered at Samford University's track and soccer complex to support Alabama Kidney Foundation on Saturday, April 30.

At the 2016 Birmingham Kidney Walk, around $122,000 was raised to support the foundation. Attendees enjoyed breakfast, lunch and activities such as a bounce house, rock wall and face painting the morning of the event.

Lacey Updegraff, the Foundation’s Central Alabama regional director, thanked everyone who came out to the event.

"If you were here last year, you know it rained, so I am thankful we have some sunshine to walk in today," she said.

She said around 400,000 patients in Alabama would be helped this year through the Alabama Kidney Foundation, and all money raised at the Birmingham walk would stay in Alabama.

One of this year's patient chairs, one-year-old Walker Greenhalgh, kicked off the walk along with members of his family.
