Veterans at Union Hill remembered on Flag Day

The Lily of the Cahaba Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. marked National Flag Day 2015 with the placement of flags on the graves of U.S. veterans at historic Union Hill Cemetery in Homewood.

National Flag Day, June 14, was proclaimed by an act of Congress and signed by President Harry S. Truman on August 3, 1949. 

The Lily of the Cahaba chapter will also hold a Membership Workshop at 3 p.m.  on Sunday, July 26, in the meeting rooms at Hoover Public Library. Any woman is eligible for membership who is 18 years of age and can prove lineal, blood descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. For information about membership, email lilyofthecahaba@gmail.com.
