The Alabama Symphony Orchestra is coming to Homewood Central Park to play a free concert on Saturday, Sept. 28.

“We have asked the symphony to customize a performance just for Homewood,” said Caroline Hubbard of the Homewood Arts Council, who is organizing the event. “We are really excited about it but don’t know yet what it’s going to be.”

The ASO, City of Homewood and Board of Education finalized the date at a meeting on Aug. 6.

A music ensemble from one of the Homewood schools will open before the 7:30 p.m. symphony program.

The symphony will set up under a tent in the park’s platform area, and concert-goers can set up blankets and chairs around the park to listen.

Hubbard said the Council will soon have more information about the program and other event details.
