Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church helped kick-start the Christmas shopping season during its 12th annual Arts & Crafts Show and Sale. The event, held Sunday, Oct. 25 drew at least two dozen artists, crafters and authors to the Family’s Life Center assembly hall.

Art Show Coordinator Fran Ross Robertson said participants ranged in age from 12 to 80-years-old.

“It’s a great group of participants year after year,” said Robertson. “It’s always great fun and a fellowship opportunity where people from all over are invited to see what our parishioners are capable of producing.”

This year, handmade items for sale included ceramics, wood working, gloves, scarves, jewelry, crosses, paintings and drawings, baked goods, Christmas decorations, Elf on the Shelf sleeping bags, headbands and books.

Attendees also enjoyed complementary refreshments during the free, five-hour event.

Robertson, an interior designer in the area, has been in charge of the event from the very beginning. Though she says she herself is “not crafty,” she enjoys purchasing the artwork of others.

All exhibitors donated a portion of their proceeds to the parish, said Robertson, approximately 10 percent.
