Previous Jeopardy contestant vying for new place on show

Homewood-based communications consultant Joey Beachum is a candidate for a Fan Favorite spot in the upcoming Jeopardy! Battle of the Decades Tournament.

The Decades Tournament will pit 15 veteran Jeopardy! contestants from three decade groups – from 1984 to 1993; 1994 to 2002; and 2003 to 2012 – in an epic, month-long tournament for a grand prize worth $1 million. Fourteen of the spots at stake in each decade group have been selected by Jeopardy! producers. The fifteenth slot is a Fan Favorite slot that will be voted on by the public via social media.

Beachum, a 27-year-old strategic director at Epik Consulting, was the 2008 Jeopardy! College Champion from Mississippi State University and a quarterfinalist in the 2010 Tournament of Champions. He faces four other past contestants and will advance if he garners the largest amounts of votes on the Jeopardy! website, Jeopardy! Facebook page and Twitter.

“It’s an honor to even be considered for a spot in the next Jeopardy! tournament,” said Beachum. “I sincerely appreciate any votes I receive and look forward to seeing who gets to make the trip to hang out with Alex Trebek again.”

Voting will last until Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at 8:59 p.m. CDT. Voters can vote at the official Jeopardy! website, vote at the Jeopardy! Facebook page, or tweet “Joey #JeopardyVote.”  Each person can vote once per voting method per day, for a total of three votes per day.
