Prevent crime during the holidays

As you enjoy the holiday season, beware of your surroundings and follow these tips from Homewood Police Department:

Avoid leaving electronics and other items in your vehicle.

Make sure your residence doors and windows are secured.

Properly dispose of electronic boxes and gift-wrapping.

Place all used gift-wrapping in dark colored trash bags.

Don’t advertise or alert criminals of recent gifts or purchases.

Use caution when interacting with solicitors.

Check on the elderly residents who may live alone.

Request an extra patrol of your residence if you are going out of town. Call HPD Community Services at 332-6233.

Report suspicious activity to the Homewood Police Department. Call the Patrol Sergeant’s Office at 332-6215.
