Police release video of inmate who died in jail cell

The Homewood Police Department has released video footage of an inmate who committed suicide in a jail cell last week.

On Saturday the department posted the video from July 14 to its Facebook page. It shows Kindra Chapman arriving at the police parking lot and then walking down the hallway to the booking room.

The entire video shows Chapman taking her own life, but out of respect to her family, the Homewood Police Department is not making the final minutes of the video public.

The video confirmed preliminary reports from the Coroner's Office and the Jefferson County District Attorney that Chapman's cause of death was suicide.
