Homewood’s newest residents are now its most famous.

Andrew and Trista Wolverton's house-buying search was featured on TLC’s “My First Home.”

The show mimics popular series like HGTV’s “House Hunters” and “Property Virgins.”

In January TLC followed Andrew and a pregnant Trista Wolverton’s hunt through Hoover, Crestwood and down 280 before they finally decided on a home at 1080 Sherbrooke Drive in Homewood.

Anticipating the birth of their second child, the couple had decided they needed more space. The growing family of Andrew; Trista; toddler Ruby; six-week-old Wesley; and three large dogs previously lived in a 400-square-foot studio apartment on Southside.

“We had way too little room and way too much stuff for where we were living,” Andrew Wolverton said.

The cameras followed the Wolvertons over the course of a week as they saw 30-40 homes. The show featured nine of those homes as well as highlighted local spots like Railroad, Overton and George Ward Parks, McWane Science Center and the Vulcan.

The episode, entitled “Bursting at the Seams,” first aired May 18, and will continue to rerun on the network.
