Despite some much-needed rainfall around noon, Homewood Central Park still saw a steady flow of art and music fans for Sunday in the Park.

The event combined Handmade Art Fest and Pickin' in the Park into one community event to bring everyone out for a day enjoying the park.

"I think they're very complimentary," Homewood Arts Council board member Shannon Parker said.

She, Carolyn Warren and Diane Litsey said that in spite of the rain, they had seen plenty of community members stopping by, including those of the four-legged variety.

"[It's] just another reason to love Homewood," Warren said.

Litsey said many had simply heard the music coming from the park and wandered over to see what was happening.

Several groups of musicians were scattered throughout the park, and a row of local artists were selling their creations.

The board members said they considered the event a success, and that they plan to keep the events combined and on a Sunday in the future.
