Incumbent mayor Scott McBrayer has won re-election to his third term. The city posted unofficial results for all five wards before 9 p.m. tonight, showing McBrayer winning in every ward by significant margins.

"The city of Homewood has been so good to me, and I've been blessed to be a part of the community and serve in a leadership role. This is the start of my third term and I really do believe this is just the start of some really good things that are going to be happening in our city," McBrayer said.

Out of nearly 3,000 votes cast across the city, McBrayer won 2,527 to opponent Michael Hallman's 384.

McBrayer joined several other council members at New York Pizza in Homewood after results were posted. He was greeted with applause throughout the restaurant from gathered supporters.

"After tonight we'll roll up our sleeves and get started on the next term," McBrayer said. "We're going to remain positive. I'm going to have a great council that I can work with, have worked with. They're friends of mine and those that are brand new."

Challenger Michael Hallman issued the following statement: "I humbly thank every single supporter and campaign volunteer for their hard work over last few weeks. As I return to private life, I look forward to continuing to fight for the values of my campaign and my amazing supporters. I wish Mayor McBrayer the most sincere congratulations on his victory tonight.  I hope that, moving forward, the mayor and city council will work in cooperation with the residents of Homewood to promote a sustainable future."

While the city will hold an official vote count to determine final winners, the preliminary results are as follows:
