At its November meeting, the Homewood Library Board accepted a $500 grant from state Rep. David Faulkner.

Faulkner called it a "very small check" and said he wished he could provide more, but he felt that the library was a worthy cause for him to seek grants. If the library has more projects in the future, he requested that the board work with him to try to find more grants.

“They do so much for the citizens that live here,” Faulkner said. “It’s a great place to ask for money to go to.”

Faulkner also received grants of equal value for the Mountain Brook and Hoover libraries, which are also in his district. Library Director Deborah Fout said the grant will supplement a $2,600 grant from the Homewood Rotary for a Learning Station in the children's department. The station will have four iPads with educational games and other apps for preschool children.
