Homewood residents hope to continue the discussion about human trafficking awareness at Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Andy Conaway organized the Oxmoor Road/Homewood Sex Trafficking Awareness Initiative event following a community discussion on June 9. At that community meeting, WellHouse founder Tajuan McCarty shared her testimony and discussed the problem of prostitution. McCarty will also speak on Tuesday night, along with WellHouse staff members Ashley Anderson and Susie Gunter.

The event aims to raise more awareness about prostitution and sex trafficking, especially along Oxmoor Road. Conaway said a recent attack at the Laquinta Inn on State Farm Parkway will likely be discussed, as well as other instances of violence at motels in the area. Conversation will also cover the issue of drugs and robberies at motels, Conaway said.

The discussion is from 6:30-8 p.m. at 309 Raleigh Ave. in Homewood.
