Traffic study to be conducted near All Saints Episcopal Church
The Homewood City Council considered issues with traffic and pedestrians at its meeting on Monday, Nov. 3.
After a finance committee approval of 4-0, the council voted unanimously to finance a $6,200 engineering study by Skipper Consulting for the intersection and roundabout near All Saints Episcopal Church.
The council also appointed Jonathan Hunt to the Ward 4 vacancy in the Homewood Environmental Commission Board.
Other council business included:
- Rescheduling of the public forum on proposed parking options on South Forest Drive to the next meeting.
- Rescheduling a public forum for a variance to the sign ordinance at 185 Oxmoor Road to the next meeting.
- Partial approval of a sign variance for 215 Greensprings Highway for Tire Engineers.
- Scheduling a public hearing for the Nov. 17 meeting to consider declaring the property located at 1602 Ridge Road a public nuisance due to a violation of Ordinance 1910 and 1750: Excessive Growth.
- Scheduling a public hearing for the Nov. 17 meeting to consider declaring the property located at 924 Irving Drive a public nuisance due to a violation of Ordinance 1910 and 1750: Excessive Growth.
- Scheduling a public hearing for the Dec. 1 meeting for the recommendation of the Homewood Planning Commission to rezone the property located at 2501, 2513 and 2517 18th St. S.
- Approval of final budget amendments to fiscal years for 2013 and 2014 from the general fund and special revenue funds.
- Approval for the mayor to accept an ADT Lifesaver Grant.
- Approval to transfer funds from grant revenue to the fire grant capital fund.
- Approval to begin construction on a parking pad at 210 Saint Charles St.
- Approval of request for consideration for retail alcohol license for Morrison Management Specialists, Inc. at 2010 Brookwood Medical Center Drive.
- Approval of request to adopt a Bank Loan Reimbursement Resolution.
The next meeting will be held on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at Homewood City Hall.
