Homewood students have organized a benefit concert on Sunday for Children’s of Alabama.

Caroline Sims and Friends will perform Aug. 9 from 4-6 p.m. at Workplay, 500 23rd St.

Sims graduated from Homewood High School in May and will attend Belmont University this fall. She performed with Rebecca Feldman in Uneven Ground as an opening act for Matthew Mayfield at the Hot Strings Festival in 2013 and at the Rock the Block Festival in Homewood last year. She has also played at Hart & Soul and Moonlight on the Mountain and was a featured soloist in the HHS Network show choir.

The concert is being organized through Key Club, a service organization that serves as the high school arm of the Kiwanis Club International. Rising HHS sophomore William Sims, Caroline’s brother, serves on the Alabama District Key Club Board as a lt. governor for the division that serves most of Jefferson and Walker County. He has teamed up with Homewood resident Sara Brabston, a rising senior at Indian Springs School who is a Key Club is a lt. governor for an adjacent division, to plan the event. Caroline also served on state key club board for two years.

Together, all 20 lt. governors for the state have a state goal of raising $60,000 this year.

Tickets to the show are $15 at the door or $10 for Key Club members.
