Handgun stolen

A handgun was stolen from a vehicle before sunrise on Friday.

At 2:17 a.m., Homewood Patrol Officers responded to a call reporting two unknown persons in an unlocked vehicle in the 1700 block of Windsor Boulevard. After stealing the handgun, the suspects ran off on foot and were not located.

A backpack that had been in the vehicle was also found in the 1500 block of Wellington View Road.

Homewood Police Department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables, especially guns, in their vehicles.
