Firefighters contain fire at Acapulco restaurant

The Homewood Fire Department contained a small fire at Acapulco Bar and Grill, 430 Green Springs Highway, on Tuesday.

Battalion Chief Brian Bonner said 18 HFD personnel responded, including two fire inspectors, in multiple fire engines. This was nearly all the on-duty personnel in the department. They are still determining the cause of the fire.

“We think it was electrical in nature,” Bonner said, noting that the fire appeared to start in an electrical room.

By the time HFD arrived, the fire had spread to the building's attic, “which was a little bit challenging for our guys to get to,” Bonner said. However, the fire was quickly contained and no one was injured.

Due to damages, Bonner said Acapulco has been closed for repairs. He did not know how long they would be closed, though he said it will probably take at least a few days to resume operations.
