Election Update: June 30
On Aug. 23, Homewood voters will have the chance to elect their 2016-2020 city council members and mayor. The Homewood Star will provide weekly recaps each week leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
There have been no new council or mayoral announcements this week, but listed below is important information:
- Official qualifying for mayoral and council candidates begins Tuesday, July 5 and lasts until July 19. See the city clerk's office in Rosewood Hall for qualifying forms, and read our Election Guide for more information about qualifying as a candidate.
- Voters must register by Aug. 8 and regular absentee ballots must be applied for by Aug. 18. The Homewood Star Election Guide also contains information on how to register to vote, this year's polling locations and what to bring to the polls.
- The Homewood Star is sponsoring a City Council Election Forum on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 6:30-8 p.m. at Rosewood Hall. The event is open to the public and Jonathan Hardison from FOX6 News will be moderating. Email sydney@thehomewoodstar.com with questions for your city council candidates.
