The We Love Homewood Day 5K kicked off its first year back at Homewood Central Park with fanfare on Saturday morning, May 2.
Two Homewood Patriot Band members played the National Anthem before the start of the race, and JROTC members led the pack of runners, waving flags.
Homewood cheerleaders cheered at both the starting line and the finish line, which was in the back of the park.
The run takes place each year at the start of We Love Homewood Day. It was previously known as the Spirit Scamper and held at Homeowod High School before this year.
