The Your Pie pizza location in SoHo will have its grand opening on Dec. 18, along with several special events before and after that date.

Franchisee Lloyd Peeples said there will be employee training days leading up to Dec. 18 at the fast casual pizza chain, located in the former Salsarita’s space next to Jackson’s. These will be “Dine and Donate” days, where customers can get a free pizza and have the option to donate to local charities.

On Dec. 14 and 15, donations will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Peeples' friend Aimee Forbus, who is fighting non-Hodgkins lymphoma. On Dec. 16 and 17, donors can give to UAB’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in honor of another friend, Shannon Burgess, who has osteosarcoma.

On the grand opening day, Peeples said the 10-inch regular pizzas, normally $7.99, will be $3.14, a play on the mathematical term pi. The following Tuesday, Dec. 22, Peeples plans to have Santa visit the store from 4 to 6 p.m. and offer free gelato to kids with the purchase of an entrée.

After Your Pie opens, every Monday will be designated “Community Monday.” On those days, at least 10 percent of the revenue at the store will be donated to an organization doing good work in the community. Peeples said possible beneficiaries could include local schools, a shelter or Habitat for Humanity.

“An organization will be designated and 10 percent of all revenue we receive every Monday will go to a local community organization,” Peeples said. He added that if sales are slow one Monday and the donation Your Pie makes would be nominal, they would likely choose to donate extra.

The first organization chosen is Elliot’s Light, an ovarian cancer foundation in honor of Elliot Williams, a close friend of Peeples’ family who passed away in 2012.

Your Pie’s hours will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Peeples said their ingredient vendors include several local vegetable producers and Birmingham-native Red Diamond Tea Company.
