Vinnie Baggs to open in former La Bamba spot

A few days after La Bamba Grill closed its doors at 1006 Oxmoor Road in May, Tim Vakakes took possession of the space and began planning his new restaurant, Vinnie Baggs.

Vakakes described Vinnie Baggs as a "neighborhood grill" serving Chicago-style food. He said he's not ready to announce an opening date or more information yet, but more details will be announced later in the summer. He has crews working to get the location ready.

Vakakes opened the original PT's Sports Grill in 1982 and was part of the partnership that reopened the restaurant in Homewood's Soho Square in 2014. As Vinnie Baggs is a new restaurant concept, it does not yet have a website or other information available.
