Downtown sweet treats shop Scoops is planning a grand opening for Friday, Sept. 23.

Scoops is located at the former Four Seasons Gallery space, 2910 18th St. S., and is next door to Jersey Mike's. Both restaurants are owned by Patrick and Jennifer Decker.

The shop will sell ice cream, gelato, popsicles, soft pretzels, flavored popcorn, chocolate covered fruit and more. Menu items will change every month.

“It’ll never be the same thing anytime you come in,” Patrick Decker said.

The food will be made in house each day, which Jennifer Decker said allows them to make custom flavors on request. They hope to use community voting and ask people to submit flavor ideas to include on the menu. Later on, the Deckers plan to launch a popcorn club and ice cream club, where different flavors can be shipped to customers’ homes each month.

On Friday and Saturday, 100 percent of grand opening sales will benefit the Bell Center and the Exceptional Foundation.

Hours for the store will be Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday from noon-9 p.m.

Once the shop officially opens, Scoops is also planning a fundraiser from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2, where 50 percent of sales will benefit the Homewood City Schools Foundation.
