A showroom for a storage and organizing company will open on 18th Street South next month.

The Amandas Custom Closet and Organizing will open at 2822 18th St. S., the former The Hair Studio location, on Oct. 3, according to owner Amanda LeBlanc.

LeBlanc started her organizing business in New Orleans and moved to Birmingham 11 years ago. The business offers custom shelving, cabinetry and organization products, as well as one-on-one help to customize projects.

The downtown area of Homewood reminded LeBlanc of her home in New Orleans, and when a retail space came available, she said she felt it was the right time to open a showroom. The support from surrounding business owners such as Soca and Shaia's only increased her confidence in her decision, she said.

“That’s not common. You just don’t see that anymore. So we just knew,” LeBlanc said.

The 2,000-square-foot storefront has been "gutted to the studs” to be transformed into a showroom, including exposing the original wood beams in the ceiling and an original brick wall. The finished showroom will feature model organizing set-ups as they would look in a kitchen, garage, laundry room, mud room, office or pantry.

“We wanted to give everybody as much of a real experience going into these spaces as we could,” LeBlanc said.

The showroom will also have trained organizers on-site to give advice on products and customers' projects. If needed, they can also design an organization set-up from scratch.

“It really is about the one-on-one attention,” LeBlanc said.

The showroom will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and by appointment on Sundays. For more information about The Amandas, visit theamandas.com or find the store on Facebook and Instagram.
