Marcy Miller, from Weezie’s Candy Emporium, has partnered with Miss Homewood Teen USA 2017 Ireland “Grace" Hendrix and Miss Baton Rouge Teen USA 2017 Kimberly Ducote in an education supplies drive for students affected by the historic Louisiana floods.

Weezie’s Candy Emporium, located at 923 Oxmoor Road will be taking donations through Sept. 4 at their store. They also have a $1 package of Smarties candy that people can purchase with all proceeds going to schools. They also have paper and pens ready for kids to come in and write fellow students a note of encouragement.

In addition to the donation site at the store, the store will set up a tent & table at the West Homewood Farmer’s Market on Aug. 30 for dropping off school supply donations, purchasing candy to donate with supplies and an opportunity for people to write thoughtful notes to be sent along with the donations.

To “sweet” things up and encourage people to give, there will be two contests: Alabama fans vs. Auburn Fans and UAB vs. BSC vs. Samford students and organizations.
