Merchants up and down 18th Street had the sidewalks packed for Saturday's 2016 Sidewalk Sale.

The fourth-annual event gave merchants the opportunity to promote sales of up to 75 percent off, as well as invite shoppers into their stores.

Starting at 9 a.m., those wanting to shop local were able to find items from some of Downtown Homewood's favorite stores, including Jack & Jill, Ambiance, Homewood Toy & Hobby and more.

While the shoppers had to dodge the rain around lunchtime, there was live music for most of the day in front of Trak Shak, and Urban Cookhouse gave away samples of its much loved strawberry lemonade.

The Homewood Chamber of Commerce helped organized the event, and gave away a $25 gift card for local businesses as part of the fun.
