The former antiques, garden and gift store Christopher Glenn Inc., located at 2713 19th St. S., has become a new space for events. However, the building still has a few reminders of its past life.

2713 Christopher Glenn, an indoor and outdoor venue for weddings, meetings, parties and other events, opened in June. Susan Zuber, who worked with building owner Jene Robinson to create the venue, said it took about a year of renovations.

“Homewood does not have an event venue like this,” Zuber said. “We just saw a need.”

Inside, 2713 Christopher Glenn features clean white walls, vintage chandeliers, a small stage and a prep area for catering, though it is not a full kitchen.

Outside, a fenced yard contains decorative sheds that once held potted plants, as well as a gravel area with two rows of young trees and a fountain also left over from the days of the antique store.

“Everything’s illuminated at night,” Zuber added.

The yard can also open into an asphalt area next to the building, with room for tables or a tent. This area is also screened by fencing and a row of large potted plants.

“The space is so warm and inviting … just to me, it makes a perfect event,” she said.

Zuber said 2713 Christopher Glenn can offer tables and chairs, an integrated indoor/outdoor sound system, free Wi-Fi, Apple TV and free parking through a space-sharing agreement with neighboring businesses.

Zuber said valet parking can be arranged, and they are looking into adding linens and a large tent to their offerings.

Since opening, Zuber said people who come into the venue feel an immediate connection to it. She said it’s fit for everything from corporate lunches and seminars to photo shoots, receptions and even wine tastings or other classes.

“You connect to it. It’s charming,” Zuber said.
