Brookwood Verizon store opens

Verizon Wireless has relocated its Homewood retail store to the former Applebee's location at 579 Brookwood Village.

The 2,462-square-foot location features smartphones, tablets and wireless technology, and showcases numerous interactive “Lifestyle Zones” for customers to engage with specialists and experience smart accessories, gadgets, apps and services.

“Verizon is offering a new consumer experience to enhance a variety of mobile lifestyle needs,” said Jonathan LeCompte, president of the Georgia/Alabama Region of Verizon Wireless. “In the new Smart Store design, consumers have the opportunity to experience the best of wireless devices and accessories and can interact with products that suit their various lifestyles, from health to home.”

An expanded area is available for free in-store customizable wireless workshops that provide  hands-on training. Schedules are posted at the store with registration and information available online at verizonwireless.com/workshops.

In honor of the grand opening of the Brookwood store, Verizon  presented a $2,500 HopeLine from Verizon grants to both the Oasis Counseling for Women & Children and First Light during the ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 17.

Oasis Counseling for Women & Children helps women and children heal, grow and overcome difficult life circumstances by providing affordable mental health counseling and innovative educational programs in a respectful and nurturing environment. First Light is the only emergency shelter accepting homeless women and homeless women with children 24 hours a day in the Birmingham area.

“We are committed to the communities where we live and work,” said LeCompte. “It’s important that we support organizations at the local level, and we are honored to help the Oasis Counseling for Women & Children and First Light continue their great work around providing victims and families of abuse much needed services.”  

The Brookwood Smart Store is one of 26 Verizon company-owned Verizon stores in Alabama.
