On the morning of September 29, an undisclosed incident occurred outside of Homewood Middle that forced the school into a lockdown. A suspect has been apprehended, according to police.
"Everybody is safe in the school, they just locked it down as a precaution," said Lieutenant Keith Peterson.
Homewood City Schools representative Merrick Wilson said the incident occurred near Dawson Family of Faith on Oxmoor Road and "there was never a threat on our campus."
A later report from Homewood Police said they responded to calls of a disorderly person at Dawson, due to a man being involved in an argument and possibly retrieving a weapon from his vehicle. Police detained the subject for questioning and released him after removing him from Dawson property.
