Construction at Homewood High School
Work on the new additions at Homewood High School underway in July 2018.
Ongoing construction at Homewood High School for new additions and renovations will affect parking and drop-off patterns for the 2018-2019 school year.
According to a Homewood City Schools press release, students with campus parking permits can choose to park in the Tier I and II lots on the hill behind the school, in the side parking lot across from the loading dock or in designated spots in Samford University's track parking lot.
Students cannot access the Samford lot by turning left as they're exiting the HHS parking lots. Drivers will have to turn left onto Lakeshore Drive at the traffic signal, then turn left onto University Park Drive at the next signal and left again onto University Park Place. This will lead them to the Samford designated spots.
Students will be required to exit campus via Armory Road in the afternoons.
Parents doing drop-off and pick-up at the school are encouraged to enter using the Armory Drive entrance on the east side of the school, the release stated, and exit on Zimmerman Bridge on the west side of the school. Drop-off and pick-up can only happen in the carpool line, not in the tiered parking behind the school.
Faculty will have reserved use of the concourse parking lot behind the gym, and students will not be allowed to park there.
Homewood City Schools provided a diagram for drivers to understand the new traffic patterns.
